DEARINGFORD
Dearing Ford Road, in Lynch Station, Virginia, is where my mother's family home (Oak Grove) is located. I grew up going to Oak Grove, and to my paternal grandparents' house (right down the road) often. I'm very close with my family and I miss them all; some of them are still in Virginia and some of them have scattered around the East Coast.
COPY EDITING
I am a freelance copy editor. I literally edit your work with an eye for grammar, punctuation, spelling, tone, voice, and consistency. I work primarily with owners of small businesses, editors of online magazines, and teachers of e-courses, but I also love working with students, job seekers, and people who write for fun—really, I just love editing!
Your time is valuable; leave these details to me. Hop on over to my website for more details!
CREATIVE PURSUITS
I love editing. I truly love it, and I know that makes me kind of a weirdo. But I also have many other interests!
I love decorating our home, and I'm luck that M and I have similar tastes. Since we just moved, I have a long list of improvements that I want to make. We are renting now, so right now I'm focused on rugs and lighting rather than paint colors and renovations. I will share our progress here!
I love taking photographs; I've never had any classes (I would LOVE to take some), but the act of recording moments is very special to me. I really wanted a place to share the ones I love, beyond Flickr, and that was a large push to get this site going.
I love making jewelry; again, I'm self-taught, but I know what I like and I love figuring out a new technique. I'm hoping to open a small jewelry shop soon, and will keep you all updated!
Other things emerge, come and go, catch my interest. I have an entire Google Docs (I'm an addict) folder dedicated to projects I would like to make. Someday!

Oh man. Let's do this list-style, shall we?

CATS
A whole section for cats? Um, duh. We have two, Oliver and Lucy. They are more like dogs, always underfoot. Ollie is on Prozac. Lucy sleeps on our pillows. They both eat too much. They are fuzzy little idiots that we love more than we will admit on any given day, especially around 5:30 am when Ollie starts meowing for food. (We get up at 8.) I wouldn't trade them for anything.
ALABAMA
I recently moved to Birmingham, Alabama, with my love. I was skeptical at first because I had never been here, but now I ADORE it. I grew up in southern Virginia, and missed the South desperately when I lived in Boston. Birmingham is truly a hidden gem; there are amazing restaurants, great shopping in local boutiques, a wonderful (free!) art museum, beautiful botanical gardens, and just genuinely warm, wonderful people everywhere you go. Email me if you're interested in visiting Birmingham; I have a whole host of resources for you!
ART HISTORY
I was an English major in college and an Art History minor. I interned for one (glorious) summer at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and I absolutely adored it. I am hoping to find the time to join the docent program at the Birmingham Museum of Fine Arts; I have wanted to work in a museum since that summer in college, and I think being a docent is the best way to accomplish that for now.
