HOLIDAY SHOPPING
I've already mentioned that I love lists. It shouldn't surprise you that I keep lists for holiday shopping as well, nor should it surprise you that I had almost all of my shopping done by early November. As I see things during the year that I know someone might like, I write them down in a list categorized by person. (I also keep a list of hostess gifts and things that I think would make great presents for some undetermined person.) When the holiday rolls around, I pull out my list, cull out the items I want to buy for each person, and purchase them. I leave a little wiggle room for things I see when the holiday season really hits, but basically I am done before most people even think about a Christmas tree.
This is the first year it's worked perfectly (it always takes a little while to get a system honed) and I have to tell you: it feels good. It feels really good.
